How Laser Treatments Can Transform Your Skin
3 min readLaser treatments are one of the most innovative and versatile treatments on the market today.
Lasers work on so many different types of blemishes, spots, scars and moles because different elements in our skin absorb light differently.
So many dermatologists favour laser skin treatments because they’re highly effective and don’t require too many follow-up treatments.
If you’ve been interested in what laser treatments can do for your skin, this is what you need to know.
How laser treatments benefit your skin
Skin Rejuvenation
If you want smoother skin that looks young again, resurfacing lasers will do the trick. This particular type of laser penetrates through to the middle layer of the skin and encourages the production of elastin and collagen. Fraxel lasers are one of the most common types of resurfacing lasers and the skin will require several days to heal.
This laser can also help if you have scarring from acne or surgical scars that you want to lighten and reduce. On average, patients will need between three and five treatments before they will see results.
Redness Reduction
There are a number of reasons why patients experience skin redness, including rosacea, cherry angiomas and broken blood vessels but laser treatments can reduce this. Vascular lasers are used to target redness as they work with the hemoglobin in your blood.
Patients may again need several treatments at a top laser clinic in Sydney before they will see results but this varies between patients. The skin will appear pinkish after your treatment and there is a risk of bruising.
Brown Spot and Tattoo Removal
If you have a tattoo that you regret, laser treatments can help lighten and remove it. It should be noted that not all colours come out as easily as others. Yellow, green and blue can be particularly stubborn colours but because lasers work so well on brown, they can also be used to remove dark spots. Age spots can be removed quite easily but tattoos can require a dozen sessions before you will notice a difference.
Hair Removal
If you’re fed up with shaving and waxing in an effort to get rid of unwanted body hair, laser hair removal could be the ideal solution for you. The light from the laser targets melanin that’s found in the base of hair follicles and gradually burns the hair away.
Laser hair removal works particularly well when there’s a noticeable contrast between the skin and hair colour. A different type of laser will need to be used on darker skin as the hair and skin colours will be very similar. You will also need to schedule several appointments at a laser clinic in before you will see any real results.
Choosing a skin laser clinic
Because it’s not difficult to purchase a laser, almost anybody could be offering laser treatments when they don’t necessarily have the right experience or qualifications.
It’s highly recommended that you be very discerning when choosing a cosmetic clinic that offers laser treatments because when used incorrectly, the treatment could end up damaging your skin.
Do your research before you go ahead with any of the above-mentioned treatments. Look into the facility, the doctors and dermatologists and find out what current and past patients have to say about their experience at the clinic.
